Corona vaccination policy and advice for patients with corneal transplant(s)

Have you had a corneal transplantation, or will you undergo corneal transplantation soon? Please carefully read the following patient information about the COVID-19 vaccination policy and corneal transplantation.

In collaboration with corneal surgeons from the Netherlands Ophthalmological Society (NOG), the Dutch Transplant Foundation (NTS) has developed advisory documents explaining what the vaccination policy means for patients with corneal transplant(s).

We advise against transplantation for 4 weeks before or after vaccination. This advice applies to COVID-19 vaccination as well as to flu and other vaccinations.

Furthermore, it is advised to temporarily increase your immunosuppressive drops (FML, dexamethason, prednisolon) after your COVID-19 vaccination. These advices also apply for booster shots.

We think however it is important to advise you personally. Please do not hesitate to contact us before changing the frequency of your immunosuppressive drops!

Ons COVID-19 beleid

As a clinic we want to provide optimal and responsible care. We follow the recommendations of the RIVM, the NOG (Dutch Ophthalmological Society) and the Federation of Medical Specialists.

We would like to ask for your help and understanding with the following:

• At the time of your scheduled appointment, if you have any corona symptoms or waiting for the results of a corona test? Please stay at home and contact us on +31 010 2974444
• Do not come to your appointment too early
• Keep 1.5 meters distance as much as possible
• Since we cannot guarantee 1.5 meters during the various examinations, we will continue to wear masks in the consulting rooms (this applies to both staff and visitors)
• Our employees do not shake hands
• In order to limit the number of people present within the clinic, we would like to ask you to enter the clinic without an attendant, if possible.

Our general telephone number (010-297 44 44) can be reached on working days from 8.30 – 17.00 o’clock. Outside office hours, in case of emergency you will be redirected via this number to the doctor on duty.
